Investing in Doomsday Essentials

survival rules on an island

Planning ahead can provide peace of mind during times of crisis. No matter what type of disaster you are facing, whether it is a natural one, an attack from a zombie or another, some preparation can help you to survive.

Prepping can include anything from learning how to build a survival shelter, to stockpiling supplies, to even learning how to defend yourself. This can also include creating a plan to deal with the worst. While it might seem like a lot to do, you can start small and add to your preps over time.

You may want to consider investing in a solar charging station for your satellite device. This will let you stay in touch with loved ones even if there is no power. You can text and phone people from this device without your cell phone.

A first-aid kit is another great prep item. These items can usually be purchased at a dollar store. The medication is also generic. Additionally, there are many different sizes of bandages. There might also be kits for children with unique designs.

Keeping a go-bag of prepping essentials in your car is a great idea. This gives you a place to store your gear and allows you to leave it behind when you go out of the house. You can also keep your gear safe and ready for any emergencies while on the move by having a "go-bag". Check out some prepper markets for go-bags.

A good go-bag should be filled with all of your necessities. You should have food, tools, medical equipment, cash, and maybe even money. These items are also available at a dollar shop. You might even be able to find a deal on a quality water bottle.

You should also have a flashlight in your bag. There are many options. It is possible to find one that has a solar charger. This will come in handy when you lose power. You might also be interested in a solar generator. They don't require fuel and are therefore very cost-effective.

You may also want to consider purchasing a flashlight equipped with an SOS beacon. Also, a satellite-based phone is available that will allow you to reach others, even when power is out. A satellite phone is a great way for you to stay in touch with loved ones. However, your cell phone service may be cut off if the power goes out. For those who plan on traveling, you may want to bring a battery pack so you can charge your phone anywhere.

The key to prepping is to take an active role in preparing for future scenarios. Preparing is an educational experience that is both fun and educational. It also gives you the ability to prepare for the worst.

FAQ

What is the difference between a folding knife and a fixed-blade knife?

Folding knives fold down compactly so that they can fit into a bag or pocket. When not in use the blade folds away.

Fixed-blade knives are meant to stay fixed in normal use. They usually have longer blades than folding knives.

Fixed-blade knives can be more durable, but they are less portable.

How to Navigate Without or With a Compass

While a compass won't show you where you are, it will help you locate your way home if you lose track of your direction.

There are three methods you can use to navigate.

  1. By landmarks
  2. Use a compass to find magnetic North
  3. By stars

These are objects you recognize immediately when you come across them. These can be trees, buildings, rivers, and so on. Landmarks provide visual clues to where you live.

Magnetic North is simply where the Earth's electromagnetic field points. If you look at the sky, the sun appears like it's moving across the sky. However, the earth's magnetic field actually causes the sun to move around the earth. While it may appear that the sun moves across the sky, in fact, the sun actually moves around its horizon. At noon, it is directly overhead. At midnight, the sun will be directly below you. The magnetic field on the earth changes daily, so the direction of the North pole's magnetic North pole can change every day. This could mean you can be off-course by quite a bit in one day.

Stars are another method for navigating. The stars appear to rise or set above the horizon. These points are in space and can be used to locate your position relative to other places.

What should you do in a survival situation

There's not much time for you to think about what next. It is important to be ready for any eventuality. Prepare for any unexpected situation by knowing how to respond.

If you're not sure how to proceed, it is essential to be flexible.

You'll likely face problems such as:

  • Finding yourself in remote places
  • Getting lost
  • Limited food supplies
  • Running out of water
  • Facing hostile people
  • Facing wild animals
  • Finding shelter

  • Setting fire to
  • Tools
  • Building shelters
